What is Yoga?


Yoga is a group of Physical, Mental and Spiritual exercise with discipline which originated in ancient India. Yoga is one of the six Orthodox schools of Hindu philosophical traditions. There is a broad variety of yoga schools, practices and goals in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

We can say very simply about yoga, Yoga is a breath technique exercise and meditation. It helps to improve health and happiness. Yoga is the Sanskrit word for union. Patanjali was a pioneer of classical yoga. He says that yoga as the cessation of the modification of the mind.

History of Yoga?


Yoga was originated in India in the age of 3000 BC on stone carved figures in the Indus valley depicting in the original poses and practices. Yoga was developed as a way to achieve harmony between the heart and soul on the path to divine enlightenment. 

Who is invented Yoga?

T.Krishnamacharya and Swami Sivananda discovered and practice Hatha Yoga in the 1920s. Krishnamacharya first opened the Hatha Yoga school in Mysore in 1924 and in 1936 Sivananda founded the Divine Life Society on the banks of the Holy Ganges river. 

But Patanjali assimilated and included all aspects into a certain format as the Yoga Sutras.  So as per the modern yoga, Patanjali is known as the father of the yoga but there are no such fathers in yoga because we did not know who is invented yoga in the first time.

1.     Karma Yoga = It means practised with open mindfulness it transcends to karma yoga the path of physical action and selfless service.

2.     Bhakti Yoga = It means devotion
